Making Gains with an Expertly Outfitted Ferrari
Most Ferraris are already expertly outfitted, equipped with some of the most powerful and best-performing stock components in the
automotive world. While that means it can be tremendously difficult to make serious performance gains on a vehicle that's already
at or near the top, it doesn't mean it's completely impossible. Sometimes, small changes can make for substantial differences,
even ones that seem to be so subtle in their approach. Below, we'll go over several performance upgrades one can make to a top
of the line Ferrari, so that the vehicle performs even better when the upgrade's complete, no matter how unlikely improvement in
that area seemed.
Performance Chips
One of the easiest performance upgrades to complete, installation of a
Ferrari performance chip can squeeze out those extra bits
of power and fuel economy your car still has in it. A performance computer chip technically connects through the air intake sensor,
and basically tricks the vehicle's systems into responding differently to various stimuli. This way, performance gaps caused by
automotive computer calculations are closed. Depending on how your Ferrari is equipped, you can gain anywhere up to 60 extra
horsepower and 4-7 miles per gallon in fuel savings using a Ferrari ECU chip.
Hood Replacements
If your Ferrari is an older model, chances are that it has a stock hood that is considerably heavier than what is available today.
Heavy hoods can really weigh a car down, and force the car's engine to overcompensate in order to overcome that large weight.
Fortunately, aftermarket Ferrari lightweight hoods are commonly available nowadays. Whether you select a fiberglass hood, the
lightest of them all, or a carbon fiber hood, a sturdier type of aftermarket hood, you're certain to shave up to a few dozen
pounds off of your car's total weight.
Turbochargers
When all else fails and you still don't seem to be making a serious dent in your vehicle's performance times, you may want to
go with the pricey, but powerful, turbocharger add-on. On a regular passenger car, a turbo kit can potentially add up to 400
extra horsepower to the vehicle's engine capabilities, but on a Ferrari, that number will probably not be quite so high.
Still, for unmatched power, you can't do better than a high-end Ferrari turbo kit, even if the price tag's a bit steep by most
conventional standards. But hey, you probably wouldn't have a Ferrari if price was your top concern anyway.
