Mr. Rupert Bragg-Smith
Spring Mountain Motorsports Park
3601 South HWY 160
Pahrump, NV 89048

Dear Rupert,

Last Sunday January 25th everyone who participated in the Ferrari Club of Las Vegas tour out to the Pahrump Winery and to your racetrack enjoyed it immensely. Stopping off along the way to take 4 parade laps behind you around the course was definately the highlight of the day. Few of our members had ever been on a track before. There were about 18 cars in all that participated, and everyone absolutely loved it.

Many of us then planned to participate in Steve Mason's www.track-star.net Spring Mountain track event scheduled for this Sunday, Feb 8th as it catered to novices and they offered to loan out helmets. Unfortunately it was subseqently cancelled only a few days ago due to a death in the organizer's family to the disappointment of us all.

As most of the Ferrari Club members do not have helmets of their own yet, loaner helmets were a big plus for them. Is there any chance of getting a few loaner helmets for Ferrari Club novices in upcoming events? I've checked around in Las Vegas and have found no place to buy SAE approved helmets in town.

The Porsche Club of America Las Vegas Chapter has asked members if they would be interested in a weekday drivers school event at your facility. If they wish, I will ask everyone in the Ferrari Club if they would like to participate. Knowing that there might be a possibility of loaner helmets would be a hugh advantage to participation. Hopefully more of our members will become involved in upcoming track events to the point where we may someday have enough interest to promote our own event.

Thank you for extending the courtesy of permitting us onto your track. Your generousity is most appreciated!

Sincerely,
Jeff Wenger

Dear Mr. Sanders:

Last Sunday January 25th everyone who participated in the Ferrari Club of Las Vegas tour out to the Pahrump Valley Winery enjoyed it immensely. We stopped off along the way to take 4 parade laps around the Spring Mountain Motor Sports Park Race Track. Few of our members had ever been on a race track before so it was very exciting for us. There were about 28 of us in all that participated, and everyone absolutely loved it.

Luncheon at your restaurant was very enjoyable. The entrees were all delicious. Your staff is very courteous and professional. It was very good of you to provide the reserved parking, and to so graciously provide for more persons than originally anticipated.

Thank you for being excellent hosts. The special acommodations were most appreciated! We hope to visit your fine establishment again next year if you will have us.

Sincerely,
Jeff Wenger

AutoWeek Magazine

The following excerpt is from an article that appeared in AutoWeek Magazine October 27, 2003 by Rich Ceppos on page 14 "Life With Cars, The Parts Man Cometh"
...Car geekdom is one religion with many denominations. Those denominations will come together in two weeks when 80,000 of my closest friends and I make the annual pilgrimage to that fount of automotive passion known as SEMA - The Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show - in the holy city of Las Vegas. Okay, so they could have picked a better city...

Dear Mr. Ceppos:

Although I enjoy reading your column every week, your opinion that SEMA could have picked a better city than Las Vegas is surprising. When my wife and I first moved here 8 months ago, my mother called to ask if there was a church in town. I assured her that we have at least one church, and it isn't just a wedding chapel. We find Las Vegas to be not only the most exciting city on the planet, we also find it to be a very nice place to live. Many other people do as well. In fact, of the 10,000 people who move here every month, only 4,000 leave, which means that 6,000 like Las Vegas enough to call it home. That makes it the fastest growing city in the western hemisphere!

It's no wonder SEMA comes to Vegas. We have more hotel rooms than anywhere else on the planet. We have nearly perfect weather. We have all kinds of entertainment to suit every taste - Broadway shows as well as a first-rate collection of performers, musicians and celebrities congregated here that you will find nowhere else. Of course there is also all types of Vegas-style entertainment, and much of it is free! Most important, this is truly a city of car buffs. What other city offers free parking everywhere? There are no tolls anywhere, and car clubs flourish here of every type and description. A world class motor speedway is right here within the city limits tailored for car nuts of every kind. In addition to NASCAR events, there are rides in the cars, and rides in Formula cars, and you can drive them too if you wish! The dragstrip charges only $10 to run whatever you bring to the track. There are also two excellent road courses at The Las Vegas Motor Speedway (one incorporating the high-banked tri-oval) that accomodates all the car clubs for miles around. In addition to SCCA, NASA, and VARA: the Audi, BMW, Miata, Pantera, Porsche, Supra and VW Clubs have regularly scheduled driver's ed and other track events almost every weekend at the two courses here and just minutes outside town at the excellent Spring Mountain Track in Pahrump. These club events are well organized. Unlike clubs elsewhere they welcome car owners of other marques to participate as well. Nevada is also the only state I am aware of that offers Open Road Racing where the state highway patrol blocks off public highways for flat out runs down the highway!

Okay, so it is true that we are known as Sin City, and they hand out flyers on the strip. So our mayor has just announced that he is in favor of legalizing prostitution within the city limits. So what? Does that affect the average citizen? We live here and wouldn't dream of living anywhere else! This is Vegas - a city like no other on the planet, and we're damn proud of it! Now I ask you, what better city could SEMA have picked for a car show?

Sincerely,
Jeff Wenger
